The Dorn Method - How it works 2

Position 2 (part 2) in the practical manual application: Standing position

Things to consider:

A Dorn Method Practitioner is more than just a Therapist he/she is a Health-Coach who guides Clients/Patients towards a Solution for their Back- and other health-problems by:

  1. Explaining the possible Causes of the Problem = Avoidance

  2. Applying a safe manual treatment as demonstration with and not just on the Patient = Demonstration session

  3. Teaching Self Help Exercises for long lasting Results = Health maintenance / Adjustment

The manual application (treatment part 2): Pelvis / SIJ - L5 - Th8

ยป The Treatment should start with detailed Explanations about the treatment procedures and the possible causes or contributing causes of Spinal Problems, Different Leg Length etc., so the Client/Patient learns what to do in order to avoid this in the future.

This is followed by the practical hands on manual application in 3 different positions: 1. lying, 2. standing and 3. sitting

2. Position of the Client/Patient: standing and holding on a table (massagetable or backside of a chair, wall) and almost upright.

Pelvis / SIJ / Lumbar and lower Thoracic spine area:

First the Clients/Patients Pelvis situation (alignment) is assessed with the hands/thumbs on different parts of the hipblade and sacrum comparing left and right side of the body. Then the spinal column directly beside the spinous processes is assessed from L5 upwards to around Th8 comparing left and right side of the body. The findings of the Practitioner and the feelings of the Client/Patient allow both to become aware of the present structural situation (alignment). After the assessment the re-balancing through guided self-regulation is done together with the Client/Patient by applying careful counter-pressure at the different areas left/right side of the structure i.e. PSIS, spinous processes. At the same time the Client/Patient is doing relaxed, guided natural movements. This is done in all areas for a very short time (seconds to minutes depending on the area and individual situation). After the re-balancing of any area on one side the structural alignment situation is again re-assessed so the Pracitioner and the Client/Patient can become aware of any possible changes (possible improvements). In case of any discomfort or pain during the actions the procedure will be adjusted or stopped if necessary. The same action is then done always on the other side of the body. This procedure demonstrates how this can be done by the Client/Patient him-/herself and it is absolutely safe, easy to do and should be tolerable not causing too much discomfort or pain!

After all areas are re-balanced in standing position the Client/Patient should relax and walk a few steps to enjoy the feeling and then the procedure is continued with position 3, in a sitting position.

NOTE: Never try to use the DORN Method on other people without proper training best conducted by an authorized DORN Method Instructor. Although the DORN Method and the Self Help Exercises are very safe if done correctly, the DORN practitioner is not responsible for any consequences resulting from the application during the manual session and Selfhelp exercises. In any case it is advised to consult your doctor first because health problems and back pains may have other causes than misaligned joints and vertebrae and should be checked by a trained medical doctor or other healthcare professional. The DORN Method has certain Limitations that must be cleared prior to any practical application! Remember: The DORN Method is NO Replacement for any other form of medical or non-medical treatment but it can be a very effective complement in an integrative medical system.
